Earthen vessels
Over the years it has been interesting to observe people of all types from many places in the world. Perhaps, the most intriguing are the people who have obvious blemishes either internally or externally, which to some keeps them at arm’s length so to speak. I remember one particular friend of mine who is a tall, skinny man with wild blond/grey hair that is almost shoulder length and always sticking straight out. If you look at him or talk to him you’d swear by his eyes and facial expression that this was the face of a wild man, literally a crazy person. Then there was another person that was caring for her autistic daughter, sometimes she was wild, but she’d always become subdued again soon. I have also met people who are so anal about things that obsession is an understatement. You never know what particular issue will cause them to launch out at any given moment. Some would say, I can’t stand to be around that person. Their behaviors push your patience if you let it and these are just a few examples.
I believe God gets a certain delight out of putting some of his most precious jewels inside of apparently flawed earthen vessels. In every case that I have mentioned and many more, the person “inside” is the most wonderful, big hearted, kind and thoughtful person you could ever meet. They each had special gifts that you’d wish you could possess.
We are too quick to judge by what we see, rather we should look with the eye inside and let the spirit speak to the heart. This will bring revelation to us and we will have some very precious friends.
