Government of the people, for the people, by the people.
Did you ever hear that before? Well, I had an interesting two days around this subject which is really out of my league. The subject is Government! You see my Government consists of God. I kept hearing throughout the day, complaints about our government. Nothing new right? Except this is what I heard ringing in my ear. For the people by the people, you know what that intimates? It says that we are complaining about ourselves. We are the government, and if the people we have representing us aren’t doing the job, then it is up to us to find someone that will. So, end of story? Well not quite, my wife was reading a quote from the President of Nichiren Buddhism. He simply said that “religion is for the people not the other way around”. This is so profound, because Government should be for the people, not the people for the government. When we invert truth we get all screwed up. If we start looking at the problem as it is, that is to say, if we look at ourselves and we do what is our responsibility, then we won’t be complaining about our elected officials. Let’s do our job and elect the right people to serve us. After all, aren’t they supposed to be public servants? “He who would be the greatest in the kingdom of God, is the least among you and the servant of all”.
